“Tell us you want us to stay the night and make love to you. Ask us to stay?” Ace said to her.

She swallowed hard and took a few unsteady breaths. When she started getting up, Cliff lifted her onto his lap. “You’re more powerful and capable than you give yourself credit for. We can see that, and others do, as well. Confide in us. Let us in,” Ace said.

“Let me ask you something, maybe make it a little easier to get off your chest. Was a man involved in putting this fear in you?”

She hesitated only a moment. Ace squinted. “Yes.”

“Did he hurt you? Abuse you?” he asked.

“Yes.”

Tears filled her eyes, and Ace felt the anger pool in his gut. Some dick hurt her, was abusive to her and put this fear in her. Was he alive? Where did he live, around here?

“Okay, this boyfriend, is he out of the picture completely?” Cliff asked.

“He…he wasn’t a boyfriend.”

“My brother got into some trouble with some men.”

“I was twenty-two when I was taken by these men as a token of faith.”

“What?” Corona asked in a deep, hard tone.

“One main guy gave my brother a certain period of time to get whatever he owed him back to him. He didn’t come back for me. My brother didn’t make it back and broke the deal.”
